Prof. Nicola Adams

Professor of Rehabilitation, Northumbria University

Prof. Adams joined the University of Northumbria in January 2010 having previously worked at the University of Nottingham. Prior to this she worked as Reader in Health and Social Care and Head of the Centre of Research in Healthcare at Liverpool John Moores University. 

Prof. Adams has a longstanding interest in chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions and completed a PhD in 1992 in Northern Ireland which was funded by a Department of Health research scholarship. Her research interests reflect her professional backgrounds and focus on conditions at the interface of psychology, medicine and rehabilitation in which she has published extensively including contribution to national and European Guidelines.  

Prof. Adams is a reviewer for a number of scientific, academic and professional journals and grant awarding bodies. She currently serves on the regional NIHR- Research for Patient Benefit Committee.
